Home Gym – Better Than Going To a Professional Gym?

Ever been to use a piece of equipment at the gym and it’s full of sweat from the guy that just used it? It’s no wonder that many people dream of just having their own home gym. There are certainly some advantages to going this route but there are also some downsides that many people do not consider.
Having a home gym can save you money in the long run. Although there is the initial outlay for equipment, as the months go by you’ll soon be better off than paying a monthly subscription to a gym.
With a home gym you only need to get the equipment that you use. You can completely personalize your environment by getting your own machines and decorating it to your taste. You can put up motivational posters, paint it your favorite colors and have it the temperature you want.
Another big benefit is there is none of your precious time wasted. You don’t have to fight through traffic to reach the gym, only to find that you have to wait to use each particular piece of equipment. You can do your workout on your own terms, whenever you want.
On the downside, some people may miss the camaraderie of having other people and personal trainers around them. However, others would argue that they don’t like exercising in front of people because they are self-conscious.
By working out at home you may miss out on the advice that the gym’s personal trainers can give you. They can help tailor a program to your needs, and help you achieve your goals. If your budget allows, you can pay one to come to your home gym and advise you on a suitable program.
Another important consideration of training alone is safety. If you are weight training you may not have a spotter in your home gym. This may influence the type of equipment you buy. Weights machine tend to be safer than free weights. Alternatively you could consider a Smith machine or power cage.
